Judith Gomes (mother of Dora O'Callaghan, grandmother to Sandra), died today in Newcastle, Australia. Those who attended our wedding in Florida would have met Judith during her world travels last year. After the wedding she travelled onto Chicago, before heading to sunny Kerry, Ireland, to meet friends and family of John & Dora. She was 78 years old, fit, active, and often participated in aerobic activities. She loved to travel, and was scheduled to visit Hong Kong in the next few weeks. Her death caught everyone by surprise. On Friday, 25 May, Judith suddenly became ill at her home and was admitted to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. Shortly upon arrival she went into a diabetic induced coma, and died soon after from kidney failure. John & Dora will leave for Australia on Saturday, 26 May, to attend her funeral.
