On the Street in Vegas
Vegas is a little overwhelming. You think of it as a street with some hotels on it. You convince yourself that you should be able to wander up the street and look and all the hotels. But it doesn’t work like that. Each of the hotels are huge. The MGM alone has more restaurants and entertainment options than most small towns.

We spent the first day pretty much wandering around near the MGM, checking out the souvenir shops, and looking for tours to the Grand Canyon. We bought tickets for the 10pm David Copperfield show.

This turned out to be one of the the highlights of the honeymoon. I had seen the same show in Tampa and I knew that at the end of the show David gets about 15 people on stage, and makes them disappear. He selects the people by throwing large beach balls into the crowd. If you’re holding the ball when the music stops you go on stage.

I whispered to Sandra, “If I catch it, you’re going on stage”. She didn’t like the sound of that, so it was lucky for me that when the music stopped, She was holding one of the beach balls. Her only words were “Oh Crap!”.

When she went on stage, she and the other victims were put sitting on a chair inside a large steel frame. a curtain was raised around them and when it dropped they were gone. They all reappeared at the back of the theater.

She received a signed photograph of David, which had to be carefully protected for the rest of the trip.

MGM Grand

Day one turned out to be a bit of a mad rush. The Daltons were due to fly home on Tuesday, so they were going to stay at our apartment on Monday night, and we were due to fly to Vegas.

Tropical Storm Alberto threw a spanner in the works because it looked like it would hit land somewhere around Tampa on Tuesday, and we were already getting the effects of it by Monday morning. I suggested that they try to get a Monday flight to New York so that they'd at least be out of the area. If the storm hit on Tuesday they could be stuck in Clearwater for a few days.

So we made a mad dash to the Airport to drop them off, and drop back the rental car, then we headed down to the Marriott to collect the Wedding Cake, and finally back to the Apartment to Pack.

I had been looking at getting Adobe Photoshop Elements for a while, I wanted something that would let me grab Raw Photos from the camera, but also allow some decent editing. We discovered Best Buy were selling Both Photoshop and Premier (Video) in the same package for $100. That’s half price, so we dropped by on the way to the Airport.

We were already running late at this point, so It didn't help that Best Buy didn’t have the double packs on display, only the full price individual packages. Once I managed to get one of the double packs from storage I still had a 10 minute wait at the check-out.

Now we were very late, we got to the Airport as quick as we could, and just barely made it to the Check In Desk. We had to get our seat assignments at the gate which meant we probably wouldn't be sitting together. Sure enough when we got seats they were quite a bit apart. When I got to my seat someone else already had it, and we both had a boarding pass to prove it. We joked a little about who would sit on who’s lap.

As it turned out one other passenger was in the same situation, and both of us made our way to the back of the plane to see if any seats were available. The stewardess found two together, the other guy swapped with Sandra and so we ended up sitting together.

When we landed in Vegas the first thing we noticed was Slot Machines at the arrival gate. We were definitely in Sin City.
